Joshua D. Sutherland

There’s far more to Joshua than first meets the eye. He is a member of our litigation group and focuses on employment law matters, representing both employer and employee interests. Josh began his career as a Crown Prosecutor with the Ministry of the Attorney General of Ontario so he has early experience in trials, including assisting senior prosecutors with murder and manslaughter in the Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Justice.

But beneath the lawyer there’s an adventure seeker who has conducted motivational speaking in Japan, Thailand and Canada following his experiences in the 2004 Tsunami where he was recognized for his rescue efforts. He’s lived, studied and worked in Japan and Thailand, and speaks conversational Thai. In addition, Joshua cycled across western Canada to speak to Aboriginal youth about the benefits of post-secondary education as part of the Diversity Pipeline Initiative, an aboriginal education outreach project he established while in law school.

Joshua is a member of the Metis Nations of Ontario, volunteers his time and effort as a Career Conversations Panelist with the Calgary Public Library and various Aboriginal Communities (on reserve and off).
